Day 2 and 3 on the Matador

Save you the agony of two more entries about the same trip, as amazing as it was, I’ll put the 2nd and 3rd in one.

After a sober night, in club matador, the sun decided to rise and the 7am wake up call was rung, usually Jay in the kitchen preparing breakfast, a selection of fruit, bread, cereal and of course tea and coffee.

On the decks we sat, muching away and some delicatly slurping their tea and coffee, once we had all we could eat, the sails needed to be raised and we had to begin to cut through the sea to our next destination, Whitsands beach.

We pulled the sails in and stopped in a crystal blue, slightly choppy bay, surrounded by tree covered islands, handed our stinger suits and boarded the little yellow floating cab to an island, as we hummed our way to land, a turtle decided in needed a breath of fresh air, sticking its long neck out of the water you could hear it breathing deeply in, it was like the breathing you did when you were about to go and swim underwater for the first time in your local pool as a child, one more neck stretched gasp, a kick of its flippers and it disappeared in to the blue abyss (that one wasn’t bad either).

We flipped and flopped our way across the coral reef graveyard shores, and destined towards a tree lined archway and the Whitsands beach look out, maradering through the forest we eventually reached the destination, a magnificantly, majestic view engulfed us, the blue waters married to the the white sands, the sky so long and open, rays gliding out at sea….amazing view!

This is where we were going to spend the next 3 hours, on the beach! okay now that was deep, but you know, its the only way I can describe it and no I don’t mean the ocean that stood before me, although yeah obviously its deep its an ocean…. back to the boat and sailing once more we reached are last nights sleeping haven.

The sun set over a mirrored sea, the clash of colours in the sky was like looking through a prism, no artist nor photograph could ever do it justice, I sat at the bow, beer in hand watching, contemplating nothing in particular, just at ease with my thoughts admiring the show. The evenings entertainment…okay now yes I did have a drink, but just so you don’t think I have a problem the last 4 days I have just been drinking water, anyway we sat down for our last evening, a girl on board, who incidently is actually playing a slot in this years guilfest, pulled out her guitar, now this women is going to hit the big time I have no doubt, but I guess it would be wrong for me to give her full name, but Natasha played us three tunes, and that seemed to set off a chain reaction, the skipper pulled out his guitar as did a deck hand….well we spent the next few hours singing and drinking….all surrounded by such a tranquil place, to say it was ideal would be an understatement!

After three hours sleep and a good breakfast, we set sail for, what for many, was the pinicle of the whole trip, luncheon island, the maze and fish world, this was to be our last dive of the trip, well spectacular is all I can say, we scuba’d in the silent world (permission granted for copyright off justjane), amoungst 15ft coral columns, in gaps only big enough for one diver at the time that expanded out to an amazing ball ballroom like place, were the fish displayed an aboundance of colours, and the sun slashed its way to the ocean floor, luminating the coral, swaying softly in the waters wind, edging deeper into this world we saw some of the odities of the sea, scittling idol through the water, I could have stayed down there for hours, but had to make do with an hour.

After the usual cup of tea and biscuits the cruise home began, but with it being our last day, we went at race speed, manning the boat, we slid past other boats and past our regards on with the two cheek salute, slicing through the water like a warm knife through butter, doing race turns, running from one side of the boat to the other to keep the speed and indeed the wind, us and the elements…awesome…..just as a point there, notice beer was not required!! I am getting a complex!

That night at the end of trip….yeah okay party, people from other people recognised us….or more our……anyway, a great evening, so many giggle, so many spillages and a lot of sore feet!! Did I mention more beer games?

There you have it…an experience and a half! But more are to come…..
